**This requisition represents multiple Custodian I openings within University Housing & Dining. University Housing & Dining at the University of Iowais seeking to hire multiple Custodian I positions to contribute to safe, clean, and healthy environments in our studentresidence halls.



Duties to include:

- Cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting restrooms

- Floor work including vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing, and extracting

- Cleaning/sanitizing horizontal and vertical surfaces including glass, walls, ceilings, and light fixtures

- Completing student work orders including bed configurations


The shift for these positions is 7:30AM to 4:00PM, workingevery other weekendwith rotating days off. Occasional overtime may be available to cover absences and during peak periods of operation.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:


• Ability to read, write, and follow directions.



Desirable Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Experience working in a physically demanding position and moving up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Experience interacting with the customers.
  • Willingness to work in environments that vary in temperature (heat/cold) as well as noise level.
  • Ability to use commercial cleaning equipment.
