Full-Time, On-site, Hourly position



Purpose


Candidates must be able to learn to:

• Assist higher level machine operators to:
  • Select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools or attachments.
  • Operation of saws and other equipment.
• Use overhead crane with minimal assistance.
• Under the supervision of a higher level operator:
  • Plan and perform shearing and break press operations.
  • Plan and perform punching - set up and operate punch.
  • Lay out work from blueprints, sketches, specifications or samples.
  • Sharpen tools, as needed.
  • Drilling, tapping reaming, counter boring, countersinking, spot facing, grinding and sawing on a variety of castings, ferrous and non-ferrous metal forgings and a variety of sheet metal, bar stock and rods.
• Assist to detect and report faulty material, equipment, documentation or unusual conditions.
• Assist in training and inspecting work within department.
• Assist with preventive maintenance inspections.
• Complete all necessary DIRs.

Requirements:

• Performs all tasks in the lower classification
  Operate grinding machines to clean to assemble products and product parts to established blueprint and engineering specifications
• Performs set-ups, regulates, runs and adjusts production machines such as press brakes, shears, and drill presses with supervision of a layout, senior layout and or leadman shears, and drill presses with supervision
• Produces parts according to blueprints with supervision
• Perform all metal parts cleaning and prep for blasting, use tools for cleaning, beveling, and blasting activities as required
• Collaborate with maintenance personnel and learn basic care to keep equipment in perfect condition to operate
• Operate the overhead cranes
• Operate high pressure water cleaning equipment to clean grease and other materials off of transformers and parts
• Have an understanding of Basic Insulation Level (BIL) and basics of Transformers
• Train all lower-level employees, such as helpers or Production workers
• Works under supervision and or guidance from higher classifications
• Reports to a supervisor or manager

This is a union position, per union contract.
