Will provide peer mentoring, peer support and linkages, as well as care coordination to adults with behavioral health needs including but not limited to substance use disorders, mental illness, and trauma histories with extensive involvement in the criminal justice system. The Forensic Peer Mentor will utilize lived experience to engage individuals prior to release, will participate in jail transition/release planning and will provide follow-up to link individuals to treatment, medical care and other community services and supports.
Position will be housed in the local county detention center, to easily engage with inmates with behavioral health needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must hold a Peer Specialist (CPS/CARES) certification in the state of Georgia with experience in working with forensic population.
