Job Summary/Basic Function: The Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Science (BCES) Department is seeking an inctructor to teach an Introduction to GIS (ESCI 298) course that supports majors in the Environmental Science program and students in our new Environmental Science 4+1 Master of Science program. The instructor will be expected to teach an undergraduate level introduction to Geographic Information Systems, with emphasis on environmental applications. ESCI 298 is a 4-credit course that introduces the fundamental concepts and tools of geospatial analysis and cartographic design in GIS. Through a series of lectures and hands-on computer-based exercises offered on campus, students will learn the essential elements of GIS. Position includes summer stipend prior to the Fall 2025 semester for course development in collaboration with existing Environmental Science faculty.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, or related discipline
Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Pro software and ArcGIS online
Classroom experience teaching at the community college or university level
Experience in working with diverse faculty, staff, and student populations
Equivalent combination of experience and education
