Job Summary:
As an Tax Associate, you will assist in preparing individual, corporate, partnership, and other tax returns under the supervision of more experienced staff. This position will involve working with clients to gather financial information, conducting basic research on tax regulations, and ensuring compliance with tax laws.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and businesses.
* Collect and analyze client financial data to ensure accurate tax filing.
* Conduct research on tax issues and regulations, applying tax law to specific client situations.
* Assist with tax planning and advisory services to reduce tax liabilities for clients.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation related to tax filings and correspondence with tax authorities.
* Communicate with clients to obtain additional information, clarify questions, or provide updates on tax filings.
* Assist in preparing year-end tax planning reports for clients.
* Collaborate with team members on special tax projects as needed.
* Stay up-to-date on changes to tax laws and regulations.
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. MUST have a valid PTIN(PREPARER TAX ID #)
* Basic understanding of accounting principles and tax regulations.
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Ability to work independently and within a team.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and accounting software.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with tax preparation software (e.g., ProSystem fx, UltraTax, or similar).
* Prior internship or experience in an accounting firm or tax department.
* CPA or working towards CPA certification (optional but a plus).
Work Environment:
* Office-based with the potential for hybrid or remote work, depending on the firm.
* May require occasional extended hours, especially during tax season.
