The City of Red Bank has an immediate opening for a Solid Waste Laborer 2. This is a full-time position that performs a variety of unskilled and manual tasks in support of Solid Waste Operations throughout the city. Drives city-owned trucks that may require a CDL License for the Solid Waste Division. Performs all assigned tasks to support the mission of the division.
JOB OVERVIEW The right candidate will achieve by: - Demonstrating the ability to follow directions. - Demonstrating an ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision. - Demonstrating proficiency in the operation of various operations while using proper personal protective equipment (PPE). - Supervision Received: The employee works under the general supervision of the Solid Waste Operations Supervisor. On occasion, independent judgment must be used to accomplish tasks. - Supervision Exercised: None.
Salary and Benefits: (G2) $40,227.00 annually - Day Shift M-F 8:30a-4:30p + excellent benefits.

After having met the above requirements, candidates must successfully complete the following: - Oral interview board composed of a combination of departmental members. - A comprehensive background check, including but not limited to, criminal, financial, and personal history.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential functions are fundamental job duties. They do not include marginal tasks which will also be performed but are not incidental to the primary job functions. - Perform daily custodial duties at city-owned parks, community centers, and other locations where public gatherings may occur - Stock cleaning and custodial supplies at municipal facilities - Serve as backup to the Solid Waste Division's Toters in their absence - Serve as backup to any Solid Waste Division driver during their absence - Serve as backup at the City of Red Bank/Hamilton County Recycle Center during the attendant's absence - Remove trash/garbage from roadways, residences, and stormwater conveyances as needed or directed by the supervisor - Serves as a primary employee for specialized debris removal: - Waste oil removal - Used tire removal - Trim trees on rights-of-way to facilitate the safe passage of garbage trucks on city streets - Perform traffic control operations when required for road closures - All other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - Employee must be able to solve problems in situations that deal with day-to-day operations - Must have the ability to communicate technical information and requirements in a clear and accurate fashion both verbally and in writing - Must be proficient in the use of a Smart Phone, Tablet, radio, and similar communication devices - Must be able to complete forms using words and numbers, etc. - Must have the ability to develop rapport with a variety of people and elicit cooperation - Must have the ability to organize daily work schedule, meet all deadlines, and track work details - Must be able to answer questions with brief responses or provide standard information to customers, citizens, supervisors, etc. - Must have the ability to make prompt decisions based on adopted codes, ordinances, policies, and standards.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Must have a valid State Issued Driver's License - Class "B" Commercial Drivers License or the ability to become licensed within six months. - Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work.
WRITING SKILLS REQUIRED - Complete forms using words and numbers, etc. SPEAKING/PRESENTATION SKILLS REQUIRED - Employee must be able to answer questions with brief response or provide standard information to customers, citizens, supervisors, etc. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS - High school diploma or GED PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
