Job Description:

The University of Tennessee Health Science-College of Medicine-Chattanooga is searching for a dynamic leader as our next Designated Institutional Official (DIO). UTHSC-College of Medicine-Chattanooga is a regional campus and has ten specialty residencies and twelve sub-specialty fellowship programs. These programs support over 200 residents and fellows in addition to a medical student population of ~250 annually. Our institution and all programs are fully accredited. Erlanger Health is the affiliated hospital system and is a tertiary-care, level-three trauma medical center covering East Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama. Erlanger Health also oversees the operations of Children's Hospital at Erlanger, the region's only comprehensive pediatric medical center within 100 miles.

This DIO position, in collaboration with a Graduate Medical Education Committee, has authority and responsibility for the oversight and administration of each of the colleges' ACGME-accredited programs, as well as ensuring compliance with ACGME Institutional, Common, and specialty-/subspecialty- program requirements. Just as GME Program Directors are responsible for the organization and implementation of educational objectives at the program level, this DIO is similarly responsible for education and educational administration at the institutional level.

The successful applicant will be responsible for, but not limited to: providing leadership for the institution's ACGME accredited residency programs and fellowships; in concert with the GME leadership team and in alignment with the UTHSC-College of Medicine strategic goals, developing the vision and direction of the graduate medical education program; overseeing submission of required program and institutional annual updates to both governing bodies and sponsoring/participating institutions; and chairing the Graduate Medical Education Committee.

This position will report to the Dean of the College of Medicine-Chattanooga. Faculty rank is commensurate with education and experience.
