Minnesota Power is seeking two (2) talented Engineer Is to join its Distribution System team to play a crucial role in assisting with designing, optimizing, and maintaining our electrical distribution networks. These roles will tackle everything from supporting overhead and underground system designs to helping with troubleshooting power quality issues and implementing cutting-edge grid modernization projects. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with the design and oversight of overhead distribution systems ensuring they meet industry standards and company requirements.
Contribute to the development of underground distribution networks to create efficient and reliable systems.
Support the design of distribution substations, integrating cutting-edge technologies and practices.
Help troubleshoot power quality issues, providing innovative solutions to enhance system performance.
Aid in reviewing and designing solar interconnects, enabling seamless integration of solar projects into the grid.
Help drive grid modernization efforts including the development of FLISR schemes, BESS implementations, and recloser additions.
Support identifying and managing age and asset renewal projects, ensuring the continued reliability and efficiency of the distribution network.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is strongly preferred.
Candidates completing their degree by December 31, 2024 will be considered.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
No experience required.
Utility engineering or Electrical Engineering experience preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
This requisition has two (2) openings - one of the openings will report regularly in person to Duluth, MN and the other opening will report regularly in person to Eveleth, MN.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license as some travel may be required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
