Accountant 3
The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Facilities, has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Sr. Accountant to work in Miami, FL. The Accountant 3 maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded. This position safeguards the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
The Accountant 3 (H) is responsible for applying principles of accounting to manage project accounts for UHealth Facilities Operations & Planning, with a primary focus on Integrated Project Delivery capital projects. Responsibilities include reviewing purchase orders, invoices, supplier contracts, progress payment requests, and change orders.
Prepares complex balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
Analyzes current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
Act as a liaison among vendors, contractors, purchasing, accounts payable, client financial representatives, and project managers to ensure accurate financial activities.
Process and verify project-related invoices, ensuring proper approval, accuracy, and timely resolution of discrepancies.
Review purchase orders and change orders for compliance and accuracy, confirming all necessary approvals and documentation.
Conduct regular meetings with project managers to review financials, budgets, and expenditures.
Reconcile project accounts, ensuring accurate transaction recording and resolution of discrepancies.
Prepare detailed financial reconciliation reports, presenting findings and recommendations to management.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements in project financial activities.
Manage journal entries, ensuring accuracy across accounting periods and resolving discrepancies.
Generate, analyze, and present financial reports on project performance, offering insights and recommendations for improvement.
Support internal and external audits related to project finances, maintaining proper documentation and archiving.
Review financial processes regularly and provide support to achieve organizational financial objectives.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational financial goals.

Core Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in relevant field
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience; construction accounting preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures and principles.
Knowledge of budget control methods, policies, and procedures.
Ability to prepare financial and accounting records.
Ability to analyze, consolidate, and interpret accounting data.
Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate accounting data and results concisely.
Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
