The Ohio State University College of Dentistry seeks a Dental Assistant to join the patient care team in Clinic Administration to support the dental clinics. Leads daily dispensing operations; receives, inspects, and prepares instruments and supplies for pick-up by central sterilization, ensures a clean and safe work environment; ensures instruments, supplies and equipment are available for distribution for patient care and clinical courses; monitors compliance with infection control policies and procedures and record keeping; develops and maintains work schedules.
Stock clinic floors, back labs, supply room and dispensaries. Submits external order requests to Materials & Supply Manager but is responsible for placing internal orders via internal order software. Trains staff regarding proper procedures and protocols. Addresses and resolves employee, student and faculty concerns, walks through clinics to ensure cleanliness and collect unused supplies. Retrieves and stores supply orders; requests maintenance repairs with internal and external vendors for clinics, back labs and side rooms. Participates in meetings with other clinics that utilize the sterilization/dispensing services in an effort to enhance operations. Prepares supplies for college events, distributes tardy slips in regard to A*STAR instrument tracking software; attends/ organizes and coordinates meetings; updates unit signage as needed. Assists with hiring employees; trains employees; meets with course instructors to clarify needs, oversees all licensing exam supplies, organizes all work areas within the unit; prepares reports as needed, assists with student orientations. May work nights and/or weekends as needed for college events.

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Compensation
$17.31 - $22.77/hour
This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.
Minimum Education Required Per Classified Civil Svc Specs Additional Education Desired Technical School or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications: Required: 3 months experience (3 courses) in dental office practices and procedures; 3 months experience (3 courses) in dental operatory practices and procedures; 3 months experience (3 courses) in four-handed assisting techniques; 3 months experience (3 courses) in inventory record-keeping; 3 months experience (300 hrs. training) in care of dental equipment; 1 month experience (100 hrs. training) in using a computer. MUST PASS HEALTH STANDARDS AND REQUIREMENTS PRESCRIBED BY LAW PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT (e.g., hepatitis, vaccination series, and TB test). Positions performing radiography must be registered with the Ohio Dental Board as a Dental Assistant Radiographer.
Desired: Experience using a personal computer and Microsoft Office to generate a variety of materials ranging from basic to complex in a business environment; one year's experience in an in-person customer service setting; excellent interpersonal skills.
