The Senior Licensing Officer, Software, is responsible for cultivating and sustaining deep relationships with university faculty and staff creators and developers of software innovations outside the field of health sciences. Working closely with the Capital and Translation team within Innovation and Commercialization and the Center for Software Innovation, the Senior Licensing Officer, Software, will be a trusted business advisor to faculty and staff software creators in the areas of open-source business models, multi-licensing, patenting of software-based inventions, and commercialization of artificial intelligence-related technologies.
This role includes identifying university-owned software with commercial applications, evaluating the business case for this software, preparing non-confidential summaries for marketing purposes, developing and implementing specific marketing strategies for software assets, and participating in negotiation of license and option agreements with new and existing ventures.

This position is located in Columbus, Ohio with on-site work.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree. Minimum 4 years of relevant experience. Preliminary knowledge proficiency in licensing and intellectual property principles. Examples include preliminary licensing terms, targeted fundamentals of intellectual property, basic understanding of marketing methods, and intermediate negotiation knowledge. Active participant in deal teams with and without being a deal lead. Able to provide recommendations and justifications on filing decisions with modest supervision. Actively lead marketing campaigns with moderate supervision. Independently manages a small to mid-sized IP portfolio.

Additional Information:The pay range for this job profile is $87,400 - $114,900. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on multiple factors including internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
