Summary:
Receives, cleans, sterilizes and stores surgical instruments and equipment.
Responsibilities:
Properly disposes of bio-hazardous substances, chemicals, medical waste, and supplies.Cleans, disinfects, decontaminates, and sterilizes surgical instruments and equipment using appropriate methods and substances.Performs and documents required quality assurance testing and inspections.

Education and Certification Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) - Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
Additional Job Information:
Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: One (1) year of experience required. Other Information: Can be certified as CPSDT or IAHCSMM.
