The University of South Florida, College of Behavioral and Community Sciences invites applications for the Director of the School of Social Work. Position starts Fall 2025 or is negotiable. The person filling this position is expected to provide vision, leadership, and administrative direction to the School of Social Work. The Director is expected to serve as a facilitator for faculty research, scholarship, teaching excellence, and service to the community and to the profession. The Director is further expected to advocate for the University, community, and professional organization support for the school, to pursue development opportunities, and to work collaboratively with other disciplines and programs within the College and the University. The Director is expected to foster continued dedication to faculty and students and support inclusion and equity in teaching and learning.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Academic experience working in a CSWE accredited school of social work and an MSW and doctorate in social work/social welfare or in a related field
  • An established record of research/scholarship and demonstrated teaching excellence commensurate with appointment at the rank of Professor
  • A successful record of securing and administering grants and contracts
  • Previous post-doctoral academic appointment in a school of social work with substantial academic administrative experience in a leadership position at the BSW, MSW and/or doctoral program level
  • Commitment to shared faculty governance

Preferred Qualifications:


  • A demonstrated record of effective leadership in social work and/or social welfare
  • A demonstrated record of effective faculty mentoring and faculty development
  • A demonstrated record of leadership positions in professional organizations
  • Accomplishment in a specific field of practice as demonstrated by a record of scholarship and service
  • A federally funded program of research
  • A commitment to interdisciplinary research and teaching
  • A demonstrated record of community involvement highlighting societal impact and collaboration with external partners
  • Leadership experience in social work education at the doctoral level
  • Recent experience with CWSE accreditation requirements
  • Eligible to be licensed in the state of Florida
