Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Maintain a high level of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) standards when managing and working with chemicals and chemical processes.
Provide expertise and recommendations for chemical related issues including waste profiling.
Support the facility with processing electrochemical, catalytic bead combustible and infrared gas detecting sensors.
Solve technical processing issues through investigating, planning, and conducting experiments, DOEs, analyzing, validating improvements, and documenting new process standards.
Maintain a working knowledge/experience of hazardous chemicals.
Ability to develop processes and assembly methods to meet or exceed product cost and design targets and improve quality.
Support Beta build planning, coordination, execution through manufacturing, initial test, data analysis and delivery to engineering.
Design and optimize chemical processes for ultra-high purity gas chemical manufacturing systems.
Lead as the technical expert to process improvements and failure investigations.
Collect and assess research and process data to document and statistical control of production operations and process development.
Provide process expertise for proposed design changes, improvements.
Support system and process parameter setup, verification, and release to production.
Analyze data from internal and external customer related issues providing technical support and failure investigation.
Analyze customer's specifications and requirements for implementation into manufacturing processes.
Give technical presentations to staff and customers as required.
Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:
This position will be involved in chemistry related tasks and must have demonstrated experience and skills in the areas noted below:
Process knowledge of chemicals and chemical processing
Electrochemical processing knowledge and experience.
Catalytic combustible bead processing knowledge and experience.
Infrared gas detecting sensors processing knowledge and experience.
Leadership skills to coach, mentor and provide technical guidance to various engineering disciplines and technicians.
Special knowledge, skills and abilities preferred:
Develop and support a behavior-based safety environment.
Experience leading cost savings efforts in a production environment.
Support and implement the MSA Business System.
Ability to use Six Sigma Green Belt training, project experience and Minitab.
Acquire a working knowledge of adhesives.
Experience with small-scale resistance welding.
Experience with heat sealing.
Experience with SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
Qualifications
Education Required:
BS degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Analytical Chemistry, Physics, Chemistry, or related discipline, from an ABET accredited program.
Education and Experience Preferred:
MS or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Analytical Chemistry, Physics, or Chemistry.
Two or more years of “hands-on” experience with the design, fabrication, testing, and performance of catalysts / sorbents and/or resistive thermal sensors.
Career Levels:
This position is available at three different career levels depending on experience and education. MS Degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of relevant experience.
Level l: 3 years relevant experience.
Level ll: 5 years relevant experience.
Level lll: 7 years relevant experience.
