The University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing is seeking a qualified Graduate Academic Advisor. Recently ranked 2nd (tie) by US News & World Report for our Nurse Anesthesia DNP program, 4th (tie) for our Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, and 5th for our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner DNP program, the School of Nursing continues to be one of the most reputable and well-known nursing education schools in the country for both undergraduate and graduate level programs.
The Graduate Academic Advisor will assist faculty and students with questions regarding enrollment, graduation, milestones and more by following policies and procedures. They will work with other committees and teams to ensure student success and ensure records are properly maintained in accordance with regulations.
Utilizes advanced advising knowledge, theory, and practical experience to serve as an academic liaison for students to identify academic and career goals, select appropriate courses, and plan for degree attainment. Manages small to medium-sized, moderately complex projects.
Process term activation, enrollment, and degree changes
Respond to faculty questions
Monitor provisional status and issue problem letters
Maintain student records in accordance with regulations
Participate in MSN, DNP, and Policy Committee discussions
Maintain graduation applications, milestones, and certification lists
Assist with Electronic Thesis and Dissertation (ETD) requirements
Maintain oversight of Special Non-Degree Seeking students
Respond to pre-matriculation and new student questions
Consult with School of Nursing Recruitment Team regarding program inquiries
Advise faculty and students on policies and procedures
Assist with alumni requests for educational verification
Inform and consult with Office of International Services for international students
Review Website, Acalog and catalog for editorial changes
Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
