St. Norbert College, a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college is seeking a PM Shift Supervisor. This position is responsible for supporting the operation of the Campus Center Food Court, Phil's, in the absence of the Manager and Assistant Manager. This is a working supervisor position that spends a majority of the shift working in the kitchen as well as overseeing the work of students.
This is a recurring 9-month/academic-year position (off in the summers). Regular working hours are Monday - Friday, 2:30 pm - 10:30 pm with rotating weekends.
Specific responsibilities:
Direct and oversee the work of students in the Phil's Dining area.
Oversee food prep, making sure items are properly made, using standardized portions and monitoring the quality of items.
Serve food in a timely manner from a fast food type of menu while providing excellent customer service.
Train students to work at all stations (grill, fryer, subs, and cash register).
Ensure the cleanliness of the dining and food preparation areas.
Make sure Phil's is properly cleaned and locked, the cash register is balanced, the POS reports are run and cash is dropped at the end of each night.
Maintain inventory, stock food, stock coolers, prep food, sweep and mop, take out garbage and recycling, wash pots, pans and dishes.
Supervision Exercised Over:
2 Student Lead workers and 15 Student workers
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education -
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience and Credentials -
2 years of food service experience with strong short order cooking experience.
1 year of supervisory and cash handling experience.
Ability to obtain Serve Safe certification/training.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse campus environment or commitment to do so as an employee of St. Norbert College.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities -
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Ability to interact professionally with coworkers and customers, particularly in conflict situations.
Ability to interact politely and resolve customer service issues.
Ability to multitask, meet specific deadlines, and prioritize tasks and assignments.
Skilled in basic math computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Office, Google Apps) and ability to learn upgrades and new programs as needed.
Ability to exercise good judgement and decisions in an expeditious manner.
Skilled at setting a good example for others.
Ability to concentrate and focus in a noisy environment.
Ability to pass a post offer functional capacity test.

Generally a position where you are standing and walking most of the shift. Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling no more than 30 lbs occasionally. Will need to walk into freezers (extreme temperatures) for short periods. Will need to move within the work area with occasional meetings in other buildings on campus.
