Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools is comprised of a non-profit network of public charter schools designed to significantly increase high school graduation rates, college entrance, and college graduation rates for underserved students in North-East Los Angeles, and the North-East San Fernando Valley.

The Team Member we are searching for

The ideal Student Services Coordinator believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC Schools and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, execution of school culture, and collaboration to ensure student success. The duty of the Student Services Coordinator is to develop, organize, and support the school community to ensure that students graduate with the commitment and focus needed to be successful. Duties performed are designed to relieve the administrator of office and routine responsibilities by planning, organizing, supervising, and participating in the school office’s administrative operation.

What you will need to accomplish:

Coordination of Student Activities:


  • Coordinate student appreciation days and co-curricular activities, ensuring they are both relevant and well attended by the student population

  • Assist in creating newsletters to distribute to students about past and future campus events

  • Advisor to the Student Council and Community Service Program

  • Coordinate with administration to ensure completion and provide opportunities for students to complete community service hours

  • Assist in preventing, evaluating, and resolving student inquiries, issues, and problems, and ensure appropriate action is taken to the satisfaction of the student, school, and/or regulatory agencies in compliance with policy, procedures, and legal requirements

Support Social and Emotional needs:


  • Build relationships by getting to know our students inside the classroom and during unstructured school time

  • Conduct investigations when incidents involving students occur- collection of statements from students and staff, review camera footage (if applicable)

  • Frequent contact with staff and families to communicate student growth, progress, and/or behavior supports

  • Understand our internal ladder of support for students and the student discipline process

  • Support students and families by scheduling and conducting Family Behavior Meetings and Internal Discipline Review Hearings

  • Create behavior Growth Plans for students grounded in Restorative Justice Practices (Restorative conversations, reintegration meetings, rebuilding/ restoring relationships, Safety Plans)

Coordination/Implementation of Programs:


  • Partner with other departments, to coordinate specific programs to assist students with academic and personal issues that may interfere with third-party programs

  • Collaborate with the administration, to coordinate any student programs; responsibilities include planning and running the weekly meetings, creating events such as student job fairs, family nights, and other school-wide events, and increasing student participation in the program

Departmental Responsibilities:


  • Lead the supervision team to ensure coverage is provided throughout supervision areas; other responsibilities are to create and distribute supervision schedules and coordinate restroom hall passes

  • Assist the academic team; assess outlying trends to develop plans to resolve potential concerns

  • Assist the administration in student engagement efforts by providing services to support the student body and its success

  • Attend and successfully complete all training for this position, as required at any time by the company

  • Perform other duties as assigned 

What do we require from you?

Minimum Qualifications

Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field, or equivalent training and experience required

Experience:


  • A minimum of 1 year in an administrative support capacity in an office environment preferred

  • Prior experience within a school setting preferred

Skills and Abilities


  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Must be flexible and team-oriented

  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of work

  • Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this position

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally required to kneel, climb, and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds. To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below. Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
