Title: Postdoctoral Fellowship in Computer Science - Amin Lab
School: Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences
Department_Area: Computer Science
Position Description: Postdoctoral Fellowship in Computer Science, based at SEAS in Prof. Nada Amin's lab.
We're looking for a joint postdoctoral fellow, who will be mentored by both Prof. Nada Amin at Harvard SEAS and Prof. Walter Fontana at Harvard Medical School. The goal is to develop new computational methods anchored in programming languages and inspired by chemistry, biology, and medicine. For example, we want to propose and study abstractions as an emergent computational phenomenon in an evolutionary approach to program synthesis.
Core Responsibilities:
Conduct independent and collaborative research, focusing on program synthesis, and new computational models favoring emergence (e.g. of abstractions).
Apply these methods to inform applications within chemistry, biology, and medicine.
Disseminate research findings through academic publications and presentations at leading conferences.
Provide mentorship to junior team members and contribute to the scientific discourse.
Role Details:
Full-time: This Postdoctoral Fellowship is full-time and has a fixed duration of 1 year, with possible renewal.
Location: Applicants must reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the Greater Boston area. This is an in-person position - you will have space in Nada Amin's lab.
Salary: We offer a competitive salary
Start date: Spring or summer 2025 - exact date to be determined.
Basic Qualifications: A PhD related to programming languages.
Additional Qualifications: Experience in programming language theory.
Interest in chemistry, biology, and medicine.
Individuals with a demonstrated track record in scientific research, which can be evidenced through publications, technical reports, or impactful software projects.
