Job Summary
Reporting to the Senior Director of HR Operations, the Director of Leave of Absence and Benefits Administration is responsible for driving the operational strategy and execution of GPC's leave of absence and benefit administration programs. This leader will oversee and develop a team of leave and benefit professionals, ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards, and manage outsourced vendor relations. As the subject matter expert, this role will partner with key stakeholders to develop strategic initiatives that improve employee experience and advance GPC's overall mission.
Responsibilities
Oversee compliance with federal, state, and company policies for all GPC benefits and leave programs (Family and Medical Leave, Short-term Disability, Long-term Disability, Workers' Compensation, Americans with Disabilities Act, and State Disability Insurance).
Resolve high-complexity issues leveraging in-depth knowledge of leave and benefit summary plan descriptions and standard operating procedures.
Manage leave and benefit vendor relationships.
Partner with HR leaders to quickly address leave and benefit escalations effectively.
Develop leave and benefit teams by providing regular feedback and conducting performance reviews.
Oversee hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members.
Assess workload and delegate as needed to the leave and benefits teams to ensure required service and quality levels are met.
Lead implementation of necessary changes to leave and benefits administration policy and procedure.
Identify opportunities for improvement initiatives to align with best practices and business needs.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify business needs and inform strategic insights.
Lead the completion of centralization of US leave of absence implementing standard operating procedures, examiner audits, employee scorecards, and team metrics.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
Ten or more (10+) years of progressive experience in leave and benefits administration.
Strong expertise in the most current relevant laws and regulations (FMLA, ADA, STD, LTD, SDI, Workers' Comp) and industry best practices.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Experience leading multiple teams and fostering a collaborative work environment.
Clear and concise communication skills, with the proven ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated strategic-thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business needs into actionable strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with Workday and leave of absence tracking technologies.
