The Ohio State University College of Dentistry seeks a full-time, temporary Dental Assistant to join its Advanced Prosthodontics Education Program in the Restorative Science and Prosthodontics
This position serves as primary chairside assistant in four-handed treatment of patients in the Division of Restorative/Prosthetic Dentistry's Implant Clinic in the College of Dentistry. Description of duties include Sterilizing dental instruments; providing chair-side dental assisting services; taking radiographs; assisting with laser-based treatments; preparing trays; pre-authorization, ABN and scheduling; maintaining quality outcome indicators; taking patient blood pressure and pulse; providing patients with follow-up instructions for surgery or other oral procedures and infection control; recovering patients from anesthesia and remove sutures.
Monday- Friday 7:30am to 4:30pm with 1 hour lunch break
Targeted Hiring Pay Range: $17.30 - $22.75 based on experience and education.
This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.
A dental assistant needs to have use of both hands, as well as dexterity in the fingers and the ability to manipulate instruments, materials, dental hand pieces, and operate dental equipment. The use of feet is necessary to manipulate the rheostat for hand pieces or other dental equipment. The body must be able to work from a dental stool in order to perform most dental procedures. The ability to sit and stand for a duration of time is also necessary. Other specific requirements include color spectrum differentiation; manual dexterity/motor coordination, hand-eye coordination, physical communications; visual acuity and communication/language development. Individuals in this position may be exposed to the following: bloodborne pathogens; chemical hazards (skin irritants); vibrating equipment; use of sharp instruments; and latex.
Required: High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 1 year experience in dental assisting or sterilization and dispensing. Chairside dental assistant experience. Current CPR/BLS certification.
Desired: Experience and knowledge of a wide variety of dental instruments and procedures, especially prosthetic/restorative including dental implants; experience with electronic health record, intraoral scanning, computer literacy including Microsoft Office and internet/email is desired.
