Fugro is hiring a skilled and driven professional for a research project managed by the State Materials Office (SMO) of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in Gainesville, Florida. The role involves data collection, analysis, mining, and quality control for pavement engineering tasks. The selected candidate will participate in experiment design, instrumentation planning, construction material testing, database management, monitoring data collection, data analysis, and investigations.


Job Responsibilities:


  • Support FDOT Project Manager with project execution, including experiment design, instrumentation planning, construction material testing, database management, monitoring data collection, data analysis, and concrete pavement investigations.

  • Review, evaluate, and analyze data using statistical methods, data processing software, and advanced numerical analysis.

  • Develop and/or refine data analysis and collection protocols and methodologies when required.

  • Be responsible for managing engineering and data analysis activities, coordinating tasks with other Consultants and Department staff, and ensuring timely completion and quality of all assigned efforts.

  • Be on-site and committed to the long-term project.

  • Follow company safety rules and procedures.

  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Maintain positive working relationships.



Job Requirements:


  • Master's degree in Natural Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field plus five years of experience in data collection, data analysis, data mining, and data quality control OR Bachelor's degree in the same fields with ten years of experience in the aforementioned areas.

  • Knowledge and skills in pavement response and performance analysis.

  • Experience in rigid pavement analysis, design, instrumentation, construction, and testing preferred.

  • Planning and implementation experience for research investigations preferred.

  • Familiarity with advanced technical requirements and data acquisition procedures.

  • Stay current with professional practices and technological advancements.

  • Active participation in professional or technical organizations.

  • A dedicated and eager individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to write clear and concise reports, correspondence, and presentations.

  • Mathematical proficiency, including calculus, geometry, and statistics.

  • Advanced knowledge of standard office and engineering software and equipment.

  • Focus on continuously improving performance.
