Job Description:

The Director of Revenue Management DC/VA is responsible for the maximization of revenue, profit, and market share associated with rooms for each property. Demonstrates excellent leadership skills by educating others and ensures understanding and gains buy-in of the revenue management processes associated with demand, revenue and opportunity analysis. Works with hotel leadership to recommend and identify future markets, hotel opportunities, guide hotels sales strategy and pricing for transient, group, and catering.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring that the Region's revenue management practices are consistent with AKA's policies and procedures.
  • Maximizing the Region's revenues by monitoring production by length of stay, ensuring that an optimal business and length of stay mix is maintained.
  • Ongoing detailed reservations evaluation including conversion, regrets/denials, and call volume.
  • Monitor full year pick up for risk/opportunity and strategy modifications.
  • Facilitate the group block management process as determined in concert with Sales Leader to ensure contracted blocks are being maintained, forecasted, yielded, and released at appropriate times.
  • Maintain same day sellout strategies including pricing and channel distribution.
  • Develop in collaboration with Sales Leader business review process that reviews each piece of group business and its value for the overall profitability.
  • Develop and maintain electronic distribution strategy to include 3rd party internet content and positioning, market manager relationships and GDS distribution.
  • Work directly with key partners to implement a results-driven action plan during high-demand times as well as implement strategies during lower-demand times to consistently steal share
  • Leads the Weekly Revenue Management Meeting to review performance, selling strategies and market trends for assigned hotels. Completes the Weekly Revenue Management Report to communicate to the hotel the performance results and strategies of assigned hotels.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate strategic pricing decisions by market segment and channel to maximize room revenues for assigned hotels.
  • Provide weekly forecast for operations and for finance.
  • Act as a liaison to brand along with Marketing team and Chief Marketing Officer. Utilize in depth knowledge of brand distribution systems, including new marketing and promotional opportunities as they are made available.
  • Develops and maintains partnership with 3rd party business partners.
  • Leads the preparation of annual revenue budget and marketing plan.
  • Work jointly with property Team and Home Office team to develop and execute strategic (demand-based) pricing plan, we well as understand the hotel's defined competitive market conditions, industry changes and fluctuations.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, Business Administration, Finance or Economics, or a related field
  • 3-5 years minimum experience in Revenue Management responsibility position in Washington DC and or Alexandria VA.
  • Multi property experience strongly preferred.
  • Possess the ability to work under pressure and to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent reading and effective writing abilities for completing paperwork and management reports, giving and receiving instructions, review and preparation of all documentation and training.
  • Strong analytical skills required and ability to apply those skills to identify revenue opportunities and shortfalls.
  • Strong understanding of CRS (SynXis), PMS (Opera and/or Maestro), RMS (Duetto) Distribution Systems (Maestro), and other supporting systems such as OTA Insight.
  • Relates well to all kinds of people inside and outside the organization; builds appropriate rapport; builds constructive and effective relationships; uses diplomacy and tact; can defuse even high-tension situations comfortably. Ability to work both independently and cross-functionally to achieve goals.
