Child Action, Inc. (CAI) is a private, non-profit corporation created in 1976 to promote the education and social welfare of children and families and to advocate on their behalf. Our programs include resource and referral services for families seeking childcare, child care subsidies for qualifying families, recruitment and professional development of the child care workforce, and family education and support.

Position Purpose & Scope:
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Systems Administrator, the Junior Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting the administration of the agency's IT infrastructure, including network systems, server, and end-user hardware/software. This position provides technical support, assists in system maintenance, and collaborates on IT projects. The Junior Systems Administrator also plays a key role in daily troubleshooting and ensuring system reliability and security while gaining hands-on experience in the design and implementation of IT solutions.
Typical Duties:
Assist in administering agency servers, network, telecommunications, surveillance, and security systems under the guidance of the Senior Systems Administrator.
Provide first-line support for hardware and software issues, including troubleshooting computers, printers, and business machines.
Perform routine system monitoring and checks to ensure optimal performance, including installing updates, patches, and upgrades for systems and infrastructure.
Assist with maintaining and updating IT asset documentation, including tracking of hardware inventory and configuration settings.
Support in the administration and management of user accounts, including provisioning, access control, and password management.
Participate in network troubleshooting, identifying and resolving basic LAN/WAN issues.
Assist in the implementation of new IT projects, including setting up new hardware, installing software, and participating in configuration tasks.
Support the procurement of hardware and software by researching products and assisting in preparing comparisons under the direction of the Senior Systems Administrator.
Provide user training and documentation for basic IT issues and solutions, escalating complex issues as necessary.
Collaborate with the Senior Systems Administrator on maintaining security standards and performing risk assessments for new systems.
Support the agency's website and intranet systems, assisting with content updates and system maintenance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
