How will you make an impact?
During your co-op assignment, you will become an integral part of the Paint Engineering team at Harley-Davidson's cornerstone manufacturing plant, York Vehicle Operations. This facility plays a pivotal role in producing our world-renowned motorcycles, and you will have the opportunity to directly contribute to our cutting-edge manufacturing processes. You will apply your academic knowledge and skills to real-world challenges, working hands-on with advanced technologies such as robotic painting systems and automated equipment.
Additionally, you will gain exposure to innovative techniques, which supports production tooling enhancements, empowering you to contribute to process optimization and efficiency improvements. Your role will provide insight into the intricate engineering behind delivering a flawless finish on every Harley-Davidson motorcycle, while equipping you with valuable experience in robotics, automation, and modern manufacturing methodologies.
Job Responsibilities: • Assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of paint engineering processes to enhance production quality and efficiency. • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on safety, cost reduction, and optimizing production metrics such as quality and delivery timelines. • Support the launch of new model components, ensuring smooth integration into existing manufacturing processes. • Apply problem-solving skills to address daily production and equipment challenges, contributing to operational stability and reliability. • Utilize engineering principles to assist in the development of manufacturing engineering tools and resources for future use. • Prepare and present data-driven recommendations to support engineering and manufacturing decision-making. • Engage in cross-functional collaboration with teams such as quality assurance, production, and product design to ensure alignment on goals and deliverables. • Participate in project management activities, including tracking progress, maintaining documentation, and reporting results. • Take ownership of assigned projects, driving them from concept to completion under the guidance of professional mentors.
Qualifications: • Working towards a bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial engineering, or an equivalent technical field. • 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
