Messenger Coffee is looking for a General Manager who can bring vision and leadership to our flagship location, a space that embodies the spirit of our brand and our deep connection to Kansas City's coffee scene. As a member of the FairWave Specialty Coffee Collective, you'll also play a role in the larger mission of transforming coffee culture, quality, and sustainability

About us: Messenger is a collaborative vision to create excellent, artisan-level roasts from the best coffees while taking care of our coffee farmers in a way that goes above and beyond the status quo. We serve coffee throughout the United States, and enable great coffee programs at cafes, restaurants, corporations, and grocery stores.

FairWave Specialty Coffee Collective champions local coffee brands to create authentic experiences that awaken and empower us to shape a better world. The brands under FairWave are grounded in the guiding principles of transparent sourcing, highest quality products, local impact, curated café experiences, and innovative practices.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the café and kitchen teams, fostering a collaborative and supportive culture
  • Ensure seamless daily operations, maintaining high standards of quality and consistency across both coffee and food offerings
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain menu quality, manage inventory, and ensure timely service
  • Oversee staffing, including hiring, training, and scheduling, to meet both front-of-house and kitchen needs
  • Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations for both the café and kitchen areas
  • Monitor financial performance, managing budgets, inventory, and cost controls for both coffee and kitchen supplies
  • Drive customer satisfaction by creating an inviting atmosphere, engaging with guests, and responding to feedback
  • Develop and implement strategies to meet sales goals and enhance customer experience

Qualifications
  • 3 - 4 years General Manager Experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead
  • Comfort working with budgets, payroll, revenue and forecasting Strong communications skills
  • Coffee Experience Preferred
  • Detail Oriented
  • Adaptability
