About the Role:

The Vice President of Business Development at Delphi Infrastructure Group will play a critical role in the company's growth and market expansion efforts. You will be responsible for crafting and executing a strategic plan to drive revenue, working closely with executive leadership, and staying ahead of trends and opportunities within the Utility industry. This position demands an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to lead all business development efforts, maintaining strong relationships with clients and industry stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Market Expansion:
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define and implement growth strategies across both existing and emerging markets.
  • Develop and prioritize business development initiatives aimed at meeting revenue goals and expanding market presence.
  • Stay current with industry policies, legislation, and market trends to inform proactive business development strategies in target regions.
  • Represent the company at key industry events, associations, and boards to foster new relationships and maintain a strong network within the Utility sector.
  • Conduct competitive analyses and use insights to strategically position Delphi Infrastructure Group in the market.
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure pricing, scope, and approaches are aligned with client needs and organizational goals.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with high-level clients, ensuring that client satisfaction is prioritized at all levels.

Business Development Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor the business development and sales teams, providing coaching, performance feedback, and goal setting.
  • Develop and review sales plans with the leadership team, ensuring alignment with company objectives and market trends.
  • Support proposal development with strategies that clearly define client solutions and company differentiators, in collaboration with product development and delivery teams.
  • Manage and optimize the sales funnel, working with the team to ensure the pipeline is robust and conversions are maximized.
  • Oversee the CRM system to ensure all bids and opportunities are accurately entered and consistently updated throughout the sales process, maintaining real-time visibility and data integrity.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts and performance reports to leadership on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
  • Manage the department's budget, including marketing expenditures, in collaboration with the marketing team.
  • Assess team resources and capacity to ensure the team is equipped to meet sales targets, recommending adjustments as needed.

Leadership & Collaboration:
  • Actively contribute to company-wide strategic discussions and planning sessions.
  • Split time between strategic initiatives ("working on the business") and hands-on project involvement ("working in the business").
  • Partner with the leadership team to shape the future direction of the company.

First-Year Objectives:
  • Learn and master the company's services, processes, and offerings.
  • Conduct a comprehensive market assessment to identify immediate and long-term business opportunities.
  • Develop and implement a robust sales plan for 2025.
  • Build new industry connections and attend relevant industry conferences to further network development.
  • Solidify a long-term business development plan that aligns with corporate goals.
  • Establish department and individual metrics to track progress toward growth targets.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in business development or sales leadership within the utility industry.
  • A proven track record of at least 5 years in leadership roles, managing high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the utility sector, or related industries.
  • Strong innovative and strategic thinking abilities, with a focus on driving growth.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to attend conferences, industry events, and client meetings.
