The Business Office is a sub-unit within the division that provides financial oversight, human resources administration, computer/technology support services, facilities management, and central telephone and visitor reception for all units reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and Equal Opportunity and Compliance Division. This office also coordinates a variety of administrative projects such as supporting the Vice Chancellor's annual budget planning and goal setting process, establishing and monitoring organizational metrics, etc. The Business Office supports all divisional employees beginning with their orientation the first day of work and with various administrative needs that might arise thereafter.
Serves as assistant to all Human Resources departments and provides customer support by assisting the general public, university department representatives, university employees, retirees, applicants, division employees, etc. via phone, walk in, email, and mail. This includes resolving problems and answering specific inquiries related to job postings, the job application process, and employment verifications, The incumbent performs basic troubleshooting when campus or applicants have questions or issues with the PeopleAdmin recruiting system. The incumbent also provides basic information related to benefits enrollment & eligibility, emergency contact inquiry procedures, etc. or to members of the general public when university circumstances evoke questions or feedback from individuals outside the university, The person in this position must have an understanding of HR and the broader University, be adept at using information systems, define team processes for their assigned area, and be able to provide answers to a variety of questions or direct them to the appropriate area when additional guidance is required.
This position will also be responsible for various Business Office tasks.
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Ability to work with highly confidential information. Understanding of services, policies and procedures related to the area(s) of specialization assigned. Working knowledge of various office and HR procedures and practices. Ability to compile, assimilate and organize both printed and electronic information. Ability to apply knowledge of data collections, storage, organization, manipulation and/or basic analysis of data. Ability to multi-task in a busy environment and prioritize competing tasks. Familiarity with software and systems, office equipment and other technology to meet organizational needs. Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities, using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions. Ability to convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups, including the ability to speak/write clearly and effectively, adjust language or terminology to match the situation, and use correct grammar. Ability to interpret guidelines in order to answer inquiries and advise others regarding processes.
Must be team oriented with a willingness to learn new things; working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and its components; working knowledge and experience with ConnectCarolina, PeopleSoft, Concur, BuyCarolina, Docusign, Pcard and SharePoint.
