We are seeking a Patient Representative to manage the front office operations and deliver exceptional customer service. This role involves registering new patients, scheduling appointments, and providing general clerical support. You will be cross-trained in all front desk functions to ensure smooth department operations. Local travel may be required.
As the primary point of contact, you will ensure a compassionate and empathetic experience for patients and visitors. Responsibilities include interviewing patients to gather accurate demographic, financial, and insurance information for billing and collection. You will also handle pre-certification for worker's compensation, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care patients and obtain necessary customer consents.
Core Responsibilities:
Customer Service: Greet and assist patients and visitors with a positive attitude. Ensure confidentiality of patient information following HIPAA regulations and maintain a professional appearance.
Appointment Management: Handle requests for appointments, coordinate scheduling, and inform patients and physician offices of available dates.
Registration & Verification: Accurately register patients, verify insurance benefits, and handle co-payments. Obtain and document necessary signatures and patient information.
Insurance and Billing: Maintain knowledge of insurance benefits and verification processes. Collect estimated patient liabilities and explain payment policies. Direct patients to financial counselors as needed.
Data Management: Update and maintain patient records, manage inventory, and prepare reports. Utilize EPIC and OP Rehab EMR systems efficiently.
Clerical Support: Manage office equipment, process payments, prepare charts, and handle correspondence. Provide secretarial support to management and clinical staff.
Required Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a healthcare setting, with experience in front office responsibilities, insurance verification, and authorizations.
Skills: Proficiency in typing, data entry, and basic computer operations. Knowledge of insurance terminology, pre-certification, and ICD-10 preferred. Strong professionalism, communication skills, and active listening are essential.
