Job Description:

ABOUT THIS ROLE: The Purchasing Manager’s responsibilities include developing purchasing strategies, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs, and managing the 10 person purchasing team in their daily activities.

STATEMENT OF WORK:

Purchasing Responsibilities:


  • Manages and coordinates activities of buyers and support staff engaged in purchasing raw materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.

  • Continually improves purchasing policies and procedures and directs purchasing programs accordingly.

  • Refines procedures to accomplish procurement of a variety of materials in a cost-effective manner.

  • Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and communicates potential issues to manager.

  • Stay aware of economic, industrial and other trends that affect markets, prices, and delivery conditions.

  • Reviews and monitors requisitions, supply sources, supplies, quotations, terms, etc.

  • Recommends major purchases of materials on the basis of anticipated changes in prices or on unusual availability situations.

  • Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.

  • Participates in contract negotiations and vendor selection.

  • Monitors performance and capabilities of vendors to ensure maintenance of delivery, quality, and price commitments.

  • Generates monitoring systems that identify whether self, others or the organization are achieving their objectives and also any variances there may be in terms of goals and timelines.

  • Perform any other task/activity assigned by the supervisor within the scope of the purchasing system.

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with policies, guidelines, and regulatory requirements per the Sealing Devices Quality System.

Managerial Responsibilities:


  • Consults with HR on hiring strategies for open roles within the Purchasing Department and makes final hiring decision.

  • Manages training of entire team in all company and department policies, procedures, and best practices. Coordinates training schedule and needs with training department as required.

  • Organizes and oversees the schedules, requests for time off and workload of assigned team members.

  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive in accordance with company review periods.

  • Manages discipline and termination of employees with guidance from Human Resources and in accordance with company policy.

What you will need to succeed: 


  • Bachelors Degree (four-year college or technical school) in Purchasing or related field, required

  • 3 years of purchasing experience in an Industrial or Manufacturing environment, required

  • Proven experience in effectively managing and leading teams, fostering collaboration and driving performance to achieve organizational goals.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs and comfortable working in a fast paced environment.

     

Salary ranges for this position are determined based upon the job location and can be adjusted based upon experience, reflecting our commitment to valuing the expertise and contributions of our individual team members. Salary range for this role is $80,000 to $100,000 annually based upon experience.
