We are seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to develop and implement a commodity strategy that delivers superior service levels, competitive total costs, and mitigates supply chain risks across the organization. This high-visibility role will lead procurement and supplier management for categories exceeding $100 million in spend, driving cost reductions, quality improvements, and on-time delivery. The ideal candidate will have an engineering, technical, and operations background with expertise in categories such as lighting components, plastics, coatings, and steel. This role requires collaboration across multiple functions to ensure the best sourcing strategy for the business.
What you'll do:
Mitigate supply chain risks and develop long-term supplier relationships that differentiate our products in the market.
Drive total cost of ownership improvements through value-engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
Develop and manage Long Term Agreements (LTA), Master Service Agreements (MSA), and Statements of Work (SOW) that protect the company's interests.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on metrics such as: Quality, Cost, Delivery, Speed to market, Inventory turns, Cash cycle
Represent the company in the community, industry, and supply chain, ensuring professional relationships.
Mentor and coach others in procurement best practices, managing key functional metrics like PPV, OTD, supplier performance (PPM), payables, and compliance with industry standards.
Work closely with all functional areas, including Quality, Finance, Operations, and Project Management, while treating internal teams as valued customers.
Establish and maintain standardized Request for Quote (RFQ) procedures.
Effectively train, coach, and manage subordinates in purchasing administrative duties.
About you:
Strong formal problem-solving skills (Black Belt or TPM certification is a plus).
Quick and creative decision-making abilities, with the capability to resolve major supply disruptions.
Strong negotiation skills and ability to defend sourcing decisions with internal and external stakeholders.
Proven people management skills and ability to handle complex situations daily.
Experience in highly regulated industries (e.g., UL, CSA, FDA) is preferred.
International sourcing experience (Asia, Europe, Latin America) is essential.
Working knowledge of quality initiatives such as PPAP and APQP.
Proficiency in software applications like AS400/BPICS and Microsoft Office.
Ability to travel 25% or more, with no international travel restrictions, and the ability to obtain a passport.
What you'll need:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
7+ years of experience in supply chain management, with at least 5 years in global sourcing.
Formal problem-solving skills (Black Belt or TPM preferred).
APICS certification is a plus.
Program Management certification is a plus.
