Overview & Responsibilities
The Transmission & Substation New Business Development team is seeking three (3) Project Managers to support the delivery of critical utility infrastructure projects. The Project Managers will initially work under a Principal Project Manager to gain familiarity with ongoing initiatives and processes. As they become proficient, they will take ownership of medium-sized projects, overseeing the full project lifecycle from planning and engineering to construction and delivery. Key responsibilities include:
Lead medium-sized projects related to building electrical substations on customer properties, ensuring successful execution and delivery on time and within budget.
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing consistent updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout project phases.
Develop project budgets, manage spend, and conduct forecasting. Responsible for tracking financial performance, identifying variances, and implementing corrective measures.
Work closely with engineering, construction, and procurement teams to coordinate project activities, manage deliverables, and resolve issues promptly.
Identify project risks early, develop mitigation plans, and implement risk control strategies to minimize impact on project timelines and budgets.
Provide regular updates on project status, financials, and key milestones to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Support projects involving large load requests, including bringing transmission lines onto customer facilities, setting up switch yards, and installing transformers.
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor's degree and minimum of 5 years of project management experience in the utility or construction industry, with a focus on large engineering projects.
Demonstrated ability to manage large project budgets, perform forecasting, and control project costs effectively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with clients and cross-functional teams effectively.
Experience leading projects through engineering design, permitting, procurement, construction, and close-out phases.
Preferred Skills & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
Strong background in utility infrastructure projects, specifically related to electrical substations and transmission projects.
CAPM or PMP certification.
Direct experience in the utility industry.
Familiarity with site acquisition and easement processes.
Experience managing site acquisition and navigating easement processes for transmission projects.
Proven track record of resolving complex technical and logistical challenges in large-scale infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of relevant industry regulations, safety protocols, and environmental considerations.
