About the Position
StreetSquash, Inc. seeks a driven, innovative Squash Professional with a passion for teaching squash to young people. The key responsibility for this is recruiting, developing, and managing the middle school cohort of students. This role includes leading the middle school practices, organizing and managing the middle school events, and ensuring a high level of student engagement and satisfaction. The Squash Assistant Squash Professional will need to be able to coach players of all abilities and play a key role in early talent identification and advancing these young students' squash goals.

Key Responsibilities
Program Development and Management
Run high-intensity, fun, and engaging on-court group and individual lessons.
Assess players' levels, and adapt to the constant development of individual players.
Be on the court during all squash practices for middle and high school students.
Assist with all StreetSquash's squash programming and events.
Manage a cohort of middle school students which includes: coordinating matches, tournaments, equipment maintenance, fitness tests, summer squash opportunities, and other squash-related programs
Provide individual lessons for a select group of high-performance middle and high school players.
Promote physical, psychological, and social benefits for players and encourage active athletic participation.
Continually improve through self-reflection, mentorship, professional development, evaluation, and self-care.
Work closely with other departments to meet the needs of our players, including planning team trips, squash outings, organizing community service activities, and facilitating team-building activities.
Student & Community Engagement
Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students.
Address inquiries and concerns from students, caregivers, and staff promptly and effectively.
Develop strategies to increase student participation and retention.
Create opportunities for players to engage and compete within the broader squash community.
Continuously assess and improve program effectiveness to deliver a high-quality experience for all participants.
Develop and manage the middle and high school mentorship program.
Harlem Squash Club
Ability to earn extra compensation by coaching the Fieldston Squash Team and providing private lessons and clinics outside of StreetSquash practices.
Assist in directing US Tournaments.
Working Conditions
The position is primarily based at the StreetSquash Inc. facility.
This role may require evening, weekend, and holiday work, depending on program and event schedules.
The position involves physical activity, including playing squash, demonstrating techniques, and moving equipment.
Reporting Structure
The Squash Profesional reports to the Assistant Squash Director.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree
Experience: Experience playing and teaching squash
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of squash techniques, rules, and strategy.
Significant experience playing and coaching squash.
Sensitivity to different cultures and communities with a commitment to youth development
Proficiency in technology and program management tools.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Positive and approachable demeanor.
Willingness to travel and work evening/weekend events.
Valid driver's license and ability to drive vans occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications: Level 1 coaching certification preferred; CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain it within the first year of employment).
Language: English, Spanish a plus.
Commitment: StreetSquash values long-term, deep, impactful work with students. This is not a transitional role or a temporary stepping stone.
Compensation & Benefits
StreetSquash offers competitive compensation commensurate with experience, with a starting salary of $55,000- $63,000. Full benefits include:
Employer-supported health coverage (no reimbursement if you opt out).
Monthly MetroCard or transit stipend of $135.
$50 monthly cell phone stipend.
Participation in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA).
Paid federal holidays, 15 days of paid vacation plus a 5-day holiday break between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day, increasing to 20 days of paid vacation after 3 years of employment, 40 hours of sick time, 3 personal days (after the first 90 days),
401(k) contributions (after three months of employment).
