Job Summary: Petrochem is currently seeking an Industrial Coatings Helper/Laborer. The Helper/Laborer must effectively and safely assist the Sandblaster/Painter, Foreman, or Supervisor in surface preparation, coatings application, and all associated phases of industrial coatings. No experience is necessary. Employees will be trained on tasks and will have an opportunity to work toward a career in the Industrial Painting Industry.
Duties and Responsibilities:
As directed by the Sandblaster/Painter, Foreman or Supervisor assists in preparing surfaces and applying coatings to various structures, tanks, piping, and miscellaneous surfaces in accordance with customers' specifications and manufacturers' recommendations.
Assists in assembling, maintaining, repairing, and cleaning abrasive blasting and painting equipment.
May assist in mixing and thinning the coatings according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
Assist in constructing protective enclosures to avoid overspray of customers' equipment.
Cooperating with Petrochem Supervisors and companion workers in carrying out assigned work.
Assist in loading, unloading, and storage of equipment and supplies.
At all times perform his work in the safest possible manner. Immediately inform the Petrochem Supervisor of any unsafe conditions.
Keep the job site clean by keeping it clear of all trash, unused paint materials, etc.
Use equipment, including:
Six bag Blast Pot (100 lb bags of abrasive) and blast hoses
8 Ton Blast Pot and associated Hopper and blast hoses
Various size compressors, ranging from 185 CFM through 1600 CFM
Conventional Spray Pots and associated Spray Guns
Airless Spray Pumps and associated Spray Guns
Various respiratory equipment
Quality Control equipment, such as dry film thickness gauges
Various types of Aerial Platforms and Manlifts
Forklifts, bobcats
Common hand tools, common power tools
Ladders and ropes, tarps
Barrel/fuel pump
Generator
Pressure Washers
Personal protective equipment as provided by Petrochem, including but not limited to the following: Hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe shoes, safety harness, leather gloves, chemical resistant gloves, respirators, ear plugs, and goggles.
Any other duties assigned by Sandblaster/Painter, Foreman, or Supervisor.
Key Requirements and Education Experience:
No experience required; training will be provided as needed.
Must be able to follow specific directions.
Must perform a variety of duties which may often change.
Must be willing to learn all aspects of assigned tasks.
Must be proficient and all Safety aspects of his assigned tasks.
Travel:
Occasional travel may be required as a condition of this role.
