Qualifications:
Possess strong understanding of mechanical systems design and installation
Skilled in reading and understanding drawings, specifications, and bid documents
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
Computer knowledge that includes Microsoft Office Suite and experience working with estimating programs
Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle and manage a variety of tasks
Job Functions:
Determine scope of work and contents of the project estimate
Partner with subcontractors and vendors to obtain and calculate specific costs of labor, equipment, and material to prepare estimates
Maintain positive relationships with engineers, architects, subcontractors, contractors, and vendors, suggesting adjustments as needed to the scope of projects
Research previous cost data to prepare bids and assist in the development of guidelines for future estimates
Analyze awarded and lost estimates to identify anomalies and opportunities for future improvement
Preferred Certificates/Licenses/Education:
College degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics, construction management, or building science preferred and/or 5-10 years of experience in the Mechanical/HVAC/Plumbing (or related) industries. Additional trade school certification or internship experience is also beneficial.
