Sourcing Category Leader (Marine Systems)
Position Profile
This position is responsible for the strategic sourcing of materials and services for one or more categories. Machined parts, raw materials (bar stock, forgings & castings and plastics). Responsibilities will include gathering sourcing requirements, surveying the market, developing RFP and/or writing proposals, negotiating supply contracts, and selecting new sources of supply to meet business needs. Drive year over year supplier development, spend productivity and relationship management. Work closely with Supplier Quality Engineering, Quality Inspection, & Manufacturing Engineering on non-conforming material issues and supplier corrective actions (SCAR's). Follow-up with stakeholders to ensure contract terms are correctly reflected in the supply chain system of record.
Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (with MBA preferred)
  • 10 years sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment, A&D industry segment a plus
  • 5+ years' experience sourcing machined parts with a working knowledge of machine shop capabilities
  • Knowledge of raw materials, various metals alloys, bar stock, forgings & castings and various plastics
  • Strong understanding of category and supply chain concepts, practices and procedures
  • Strategic thinker with excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Computer literate, with MS Office/PC expertise, and ERP experience
  • Must be a US Citizen
Essential Or Primary / Key Responsibilities
  • Partner cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to capture and address sourcing requirements
  • Work closely with Design Engineers and category supply base to reduce no bids and lower costs
  • Identify new sources and negotiate agreements to help meet strategic business objectives
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies to manage category spend and supply risks
  • Lead supplier development process by evaluating suppliers' performance and facilitating improvements
  • Analyze category spend and proactively identify opportunities for improvement
  • Report metrics and corrective actions progress against category targets
  • Authorize purchasing master data maintenance to reflect contracted price, terms and conditions
  • Utilize the company's current and participate in the implementation of a new ERP system

  • Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to the Marotta organization

Work Environment
  • This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including, but not limited to: fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration
  • The temperature of the work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures, machining processes, etc.
  • This is a full-time position. Hours of work are 40 hours/week. Overtime and weekend work are required, as job duties demand.
  • May require up to 50% travel
Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, or crouch, and move about the facility
  • The employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 25 pounds
This position is at our Montville, NJ corporate offices location.
