The Lead Tax Analyst is crucial in managing the company's tax reporting and compliance within different tax functions and various jurisdictions, including federal, state, and international. The Lead Tax Analyst prepares and reviews tax filings, conducts tax research, manages audits, and supports the company's tax-related projects. The Lead Tax Analyst also provides guidance and mentorship to other organization members and fosters collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate tax filings and compliance with relevant laws.
Job Responsibilities:
Ensure income tax compliance through accurate tax accounting and reporting in collaboration with the Finance team.
Prepare the tax provision in accordance with ASC740
Prepare quarterly estimates and extension calculations
Review federal and state income tax returns
Ensure timely filing of all tax documents and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Prepare and review audit documentation and work papers
Manage sales tax audits and respond to tax authorities' inquiries.
Conduct Sales and Use Tax research and analysis on tax issues, provide recommendations for compliance and planning
Respond to internal and external sales tax questions regarding the taxability of the Company's various product offerings and confirm tax rates for multiple legal entities doing business in all 50 states
Negotiates with tax authorities to resolve disputes
Identifies and implements process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the income and sales & use tax functions
Requirements:
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in tax compliance and reporting with a mix of income tax and sales & use tax experience, preferably within a corporate or public accounting environment
Experience with Value Added Tax is highly desirable
Proven track record of managing tax audits and working with tax authorities
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and international tax laws and regulations
Proficiency in tax preparation software and ERP systems (JD Edwards G/L or similar and Vertex is a plus)
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues to non-tax professionals
Leadership and team management capabilities
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Advanced degree in Taxation or Law (JD/LLM) is a plus
