Position Overview:
As a Senior Project Engineering Manager, you'll take the helm of transformative capital projects totaling over $25M, guiding them from concept to completion. Your role will be crucial in bridging the gap between internal teams and external partners, ensuring that every deliverable, schedule, and cost is meticulously managed. You'll lead projects that span production, maintenance, growth, regulatory, and environmental domains, using cutting-edge tools for planning and communication. Your expertise will be key in facilitating project meetings, tracking progress, and optimizing resources to ensure each project is executed efficiently, on time, and within budget.
Responsibilities:
Engineering Oversight: Review and evaluate engineering proposals, drawings, specifications, and contractor bid packages.
Leadership: Oversee project review meetings with internal and external engineering and construction teams.
Communication: Provide timely feedback to external sources on all requested project information, including equipment details, drawings, site standards, and more.
Project Management: Lead the execution of multiple capital projects across several locations, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with business teams and plant resources to develop clear project scopes, costs, and schedules, securing approval and funding from supply chain and business leaders.
Vendor Management: Partner with external resources, including equipment and engineering suppliers, to design and execute projects; lead external engineering resources directly.
Equipment Procurement: Purchase and verify equipment meet all requirements and oversee testing at vendor locations.
Progress Tracking: Update status and communicate progress regularly and transparently, ensuring project objectives are met within defined budgets and schedules.
Technical Support: Provide technical support to improve plant efficiency, safety, quality, and sustainability, and develop plant technical resources.
On-Site Support: Assist with troubleshooting and issue resolution and facilitate sharing of lessons learned across sites.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records and all project correspondence, consistently keeping stakeholders informed of project progress.
Construction Monitoring: Oversee construction activities, minimizing change orders and ensuring smooth project execution.
Operational Excellence: Provide and compile project Operation and Maintenance (O&M) documentation, and support efforts to increase plant reliability, profitability, and modernization.
Safety & Compliance: Promote and conduct actions that are safe and environmentally sound, adhering to all company policies and procedures.
Proven ability to manage multiple high-caliber projects simultaneously
10+ years of experience in a food manufacturing facility and project management
Strong knowledge of food packaging principles, industry quality, and food safety requirements
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally at all levels
Demonstrated ability to complete projects on time and on budget
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Experience with technologies such as liquid mixing/blending, powders mixing/blending, thermal processing, food packaging, facility design/construction, and utilities systems
Direct plant experience in operations, maintenance, and/or engineering
Formal project management training or certifications are a plus
Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide teams
Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
Experience presenting to executive leadership and stakeholders
Commitment to promoting a positive culture and company values
Familiarity with engineering principles and proficiency in MS Office 365, project management tools, and ERP systems
Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions
Creative problem-solving skills to address project challenges
Hours, Location and Pay:
We offer a competitive base pay rate and a comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees. This position will primarily work out of our Neenah, WI facility, but will also travel to our Little Chute, WI location as business needs require.
Physical and Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, hear, use hands to type data, use a personal computer and telephone. This employee may occasionally have to operate business machines and lift and/move up to 50 pounds.
