THE ROLE
The Product Development Assistant (Collections) will support the development of men's and women's runway collections, focusing on prototype and sample management, quality control, and strict timeline adherence.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support the runway calendar as outlined by the Senior Product Development Manager, ensuring timely tracking of key dates, fittings, and deliverables in collaboration with Design teams, fabric and trim teams, factories, and local vendors
Provide clear, consistent updates to internal teams and external vendors to ensure cross-functional alignment and seamless collaboration
Work closely with teams to ensure product and quality standards are met and upheld throughout the development process
Coordinate with the fabric and trim team on seasonal fabric requests, maintaining oversight of in-house stock and supply levels
Maintain impeccable record-keeping by regularly updating internal files, tracking calendars, archival loans, reference samples, invoices, and purchasing details
Maintain strong relationships with international and local factories through regular communication to ensure finished goods meet quality expectations and development timelines
Oversee the ordering of local supplies and monitor the progress of new developments
Manage international carnet shipments for collection presentations, including supply orders, safe packing of samples, commercial invoicing, and related documentation
Manage Bill of Materials (BOM) and Purchase Order (PO) updates with the codification team, from proto and sampling stages to production, submitting factory consumptions and CMs (cost of manufacturing) for pricing
Prepare for proto and sample stages by printing and processing patterns, gathering materials, and coordinating packing and shipping to vendors
Create, maintain, and update Work-in-Progress (WIP) charts and factory Work Orders with complete accuracy daily
Oversee seasonal wrap-up tasks, including the inventory of show materials, retrieving fabrics, patterns, and prototypes from factories, and updating the WIP with CM prices for archival purposes
Assist with special projects and VIP requests as needed
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
A degree in Fashion, Product Development, Merchandising, or a related field
1-3 years of experience in product development, production, or fashion design; luxury experience strongly preferred
Familiarity with runway and collection development processes, including fabric, trims, and prototype creation
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and priorities efficiently
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, with experience in PLM systems and familiarity with BOM and PO processes
Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high-quality standards and precise record-keeping
Ability to troubleshoot issues proactively and provide creative solutions during the development process
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, balancing seasonal deadlines with ongoing projects and special requests
Knowledge of pattern making and tailoring, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams
