This Missouri based furniture manufacturing company is going through growth and needs a hands-on leader to optimize their manufacturing processes and up-level their team's ability, in order to improve inefficiencies and missed targets. Reporting to the President, this new VP of Ops will evaluate their current processes, then create and execute a strategy to transform the organization and lead the team to greatness. Using strong operational principles and processes (in Ops, Quality, & Production), they will be a hands-on mentor to the team while implementing their plan. The best practices will encourage a proactive approach and utilize data-driven insights to improve schedule attainment as well as strategic planning for future needs, based on growth
What You'll Be Doing - You Will Be:
Be empowered to truly own Operations (incl Quality, Eng, Production, & Maintenance)
Instill a mindset of proactivity and independent thinking, building employee morale through communication, recognition, and growing careers
Short Term: Observing and learning - learning the business inside and out, observing the team and processes, and identifying gaps/easy wins
Near Term: Creating/executing a plan that improves and updates processes, including optimizing for on-time delivery, quality, capacity planning and enabling the team to make data-driven decisions moving forward
Long Term: Continually gathering data around what's working and what's not working to continually improve, thinking through potential automations down the line.
Provide clear direction and goals to teams for driving operational efficiency and accountability
Driving cultural and operational change, including leading and mentoring, and living out the core values of the organization
Working with other leaders to communicate data-driven updates and strategies
What You'll Need:
Wood product manufacturing experience (ideally in both small and large environments) - must have experience operating in a smaller team environment
Experience optimizing operational processes to improve quality, on-time delivery, and capacity planning - Lean Six Sigma experience preferred (not required)
Strong experience implementing KPIs and leveraging data to inform decision making
People leadership (with a high EQ and strong drive)
Leading through change: the ability to drive change and the ability to hold strong and push through when things aren't easy
Contagiously calm - able to keep their teams grounded
Ability to communicate with a diverse set of stakeholders (from the floor to the board) and lead through a data-driven approach
Be onsite daily - relocation assistance will be provided, if needed
Production floor experience (at some point earlier in career)
