The Opportunity:
An innovative manufacturer experiencing exponential growth is looking for a Head of Sourcing to lead and grow a team of sourcing professionals responsible for the strategic sourcing and purchasing of all direct materials to support manufacturing operations of the organization.

Essential Functions of the Job:
Builds organizational strength, leads the development and execution of robust direct materials sourcing strategies, negotiates agreements, manages strategic supplier relationships, and drives continuous improvement year over year savings.
Serve as the primary contact between stakeholders and suppliers in the strategic sourcing process, including category analysis, supplier selection, continuity of supply and contract negotiation.
Closely collaborate with business stakeholders to gain an understanding of current state, to include business requirements, supplier profiles & spend analysis. Maintain ongoing relationships with these key stakeholders to increase engagement and develop a robust project pipeline
Ensures that the category strategy is aligned with the functional/business objectives and work closely with Business Leaders, Quality, Operations, and R&D to ensure category strategies are aligned cross-functionally
Leads a team responsible for strategic sourcing activities and purchasing functions.
Hire and develop talent to keep up with the rapid growth of the company.
Develop supplier management strategies by which suppliers are evaluated, selected and managed in accordance with established guidelines and best practices (RFI/RFP, Scorecards, performance metrics)
Determine and recommend alternate supply strategies to create cost savings.
Lead Make Vs Buy discussions using cost modeling and competitor assessment
Considers financial planning, forecasting, P&L performance, inventory, cash flow, tariffs, and inflation to formulate strategy
Manages the contracting process and leads coordination with Legal to ensure relationships are appropriately documented
Manages the supplier qualification, RFP, supplier selection, contract development, implementation, compliance, and ongoing supply base management process
Drives supplier consolidation through engaging and supporting to qualify preferred suppliers and migrate spend from the incumbent, non-preferred suppliers
Drives adoption of global sourcing strategies across the enterprise and ensures ongoing cross-team collaboration.
Manage inventory within the target levels and maintain dual sources of supply as needed.
Focus on continuous improvement building supply chain excellence and best practices.
Education, Experience & Skills
University Degree in a technical field (BSME/ BSIE preferred) or equivalent. Master's degree preferred
Strong negotiation skills, with relentless drive.
10-15 years' experience in Sourcing/Category Management of direct materials
Must have significant experience sourcing electromechanical components
At least 5 years' experience leading team
Must have experience sourcing from Asian suppliers
Must be willing and able to travel on a regular basis (30%) including Asia
Collaborative working style
Good relationship builder (internal/external)
Challenges underlying assumptions of stakeholder recommendations
Able to balance both short and long-term performance needs
Smart negotiator who likes fact-based discussions with suppliers
