Role and Responsibilities: Under direction of Public Information Officer, assists in performing the work involved in collecting and distributing informative materials designed to aid public information and publicity of department and City; does related tasks as required:
Assists in performing work involved in the preparation and distribution of news releases, speeches, feature news stories, bulletins, social media posts, and other informative materials designed to acquaint the public with the functions, aims, programs, regulations, policies, and procedures of the department/City.
Assists in gathering informative materials concerning the current and proposed programs of the department/City and assists in putting the collected data into usable form.
Assists in designing communication programs and strategies relating to media relations, maintaining and updating media databases, and coordinating special public relations events.
Assists with the production and editing of a variety of digital communications, including videos
and social media content.
Creates visually appealing graphics for marketing collateral and presentations.
Work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Two (2) years of experience in work involving the collection and analysis in the field of news media, public relations, publicity, and/or advertising; must have experience in social media, content development, video editing and
production.
Ability to: remain creative and flexible while working in a high-pressure environment with hard deadlines, use excellent writing and communication skills to prepare informative articles and news releases for publication via the media of print, television and the internet; review and edit written material and to proofread copy; utilize available media for the dissemination of news and information.
