Marathon TS is seeking a Microsoft Systems Engineer to support a federal client in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will support and maintain the client's Information Systems in a distributed environment. Responsible for problem resolution, performance tuning and analysis, proactive problem prevention, detection, circumvention, and resolution to root causes. Provide application of software patches as well as release and version upgrades of operating systems and associated software to maintain supportability. Responsibilities:
Installing, upgrading, configuring, managing and implementing Microsoft Windows operating systems and servers
Providing technical support for staff and users of back-end systems
Create and maintain documentation related to troubleshooting, system configurations, internal IT procedures, and end-user procedures
Work tickets assigned via IT Service Management software, and provide senior-level support for calls and issues received via the Help Desk
Review event logs and take corrective action as required
Respond to alerts and emergencies when necessary
Work with IT and other business units to ensure consistency of all server and application systems' disaster recovery operations, including replication and backup
Research, test, implement, or collaborate with team members during implementation projects to meet business objectives, as necessary
Manage and maintain Microsoft Application Servers: IIS, SQL Server, SharePoint
Provide support for the services themselves as well as the products and services that rely upon them
Manage and maintain Windows core infrastructure services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, PKI, Group Policy and login scripts
Maintain, test, configure, and install application software, operating systems, and system management tools
Qualifications:
7+ years of relevant networking/systems experience
1 of the following certifications: M365E/X, VCP, CCNP, LPIC or Linux+
Bachelor's Degree in networking, systems engineering or similar field
Secret clearance (Top Secret preferred)
Advanced knowledge of server- and PC-based hardware and operating systems
Advanced knowledge of back-end software and systems such as VMware, Windows Server, SQL Server, Active Directory, ADFS, IIS, .NET Framework, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft Client-N and Group Policy
Detailed knowledge of Windows server setup, deployment, and maintenance
Working knowledge of CIFS, NFS, PKI, SSH and FTP/SFTP
Good technical problem solving and interpersonal skills
Able to work in a fast paced, team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
Highly motivated, detail-oriented team player with a positive attitude with the ability to work independently
Solid understanding of general system and application security best-practices
Commitment to the successful achievement of team and organizational goals through a desire to participate with (and receive help from) other members of the team
General familiarity with PowerShell, Windows Fail Over Clustering
Experience with Veeam Backup preferred
Experience implementing DISA STIG for operating systems, sub-components and applications preferred
Experience supporting load balanced web servers preferred
