Job Summary:

To help continue our growth in North America and to better enable our primary focus of developing innovative products for the US market, we are seeking a creative engineer to lead innovative projects for the US market. You will bring a background in consumer goods to provide immediate impact and guidance. This position will drive engineering projects from ideation through to prototype creation and feasibility testing. You will ensure the new products meet US customers market needs and create detailed data records for handoff to downstream development teams. This is a full-time position.

Some domestic and international travel is required.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Utilizes new innovation idea generation activities to convert new ideas into concepts.
  • Build and utilize analytical models.
  • Correlate your models with benchtop prototypes and product samples.
  • Setup and run DOEs to understand key parameters and interactions.
  • Incorporate controls and processing capability to work toward a minimum viable product sample.
  • Work side by side with electronics, design, consumer insights and business leaders in a collaborative setting.
  • Research potential new technologies for product inspiration.
  • Works with university partners, idea incubator(s) and other outside relationships for research collaboration and adoption.
  • Inspires the US team to push boundaries for product and service ideas.
  • Supervises university coop students.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • 5-10 years' experience in consumer product development with 3-5 years' experience in innovative product development roles
  • Experience using consumer insights to drive product development.
  • Understanding of basic simulation practices and creation of computer analytic models.
  • Good knowledge of engineering product development processes.
  • Experience with new and emerging technology identification and development.
  • Experience with innovation processes and idea generation.
  • Working knowledge of intellectual property and protection.
  • Familiarity with open innovation and collaboration in an engineering environment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Mechanical or similar engineering.
  • ANSYS - CFD / Mechanical modeling setup/optimization - Dynamic model creation.
  • MBA.
  • Six Sigma Blackbelt / Experience mentoring & training others.
  • Reliability practitioner.
  • Expertise in driving idea generation processes into organization.
