The Claims Associate is responsible for handling claims from inception to closure in accordance with the Company's and the Industry's best claims practices.
Responsibilities: • The Claims Associate will be responsible for providing technical claim handling, including adept recognition of exposure, reserve adjustment, identification and resolution of coverage issues, and overall loss mitigation. • The Claims Associate handles all claims in a proactive manner by devising and executing an effective claim handling strategy. • The Claims Associate prepares prompt, thorough, timely, and articulate reports and records. • The Claims Associate adheres to the Company's technical and administrative standards/guidelines and remains current on industry standards/guidelines and legal decisions that impact claim handling and exposures. • The Claims Associate is expected to travel as necessary and as required by the Company.
Role Qualifications and Experience • A minimum of 5 years' experience in insurance technical claim handling of lost time / indemnity / permanent disability workers' compensation claims; multiple jurisdictions, carrier background preferred. • Fluent in common medical terminology and complex medical conditions required. • Knowledge of workers compensation litigation processes. • Knowledge of final claim settlement, including MSA (Medicare Set Asides) etc. processes. • Undergraduate college degree. • Demonstrates competence in:
Analytical and organizational Skills, Interpersonal skills; Industry designations/course work a plus.
Prior experience in handling Excess Insurance for Self-Insurer of Workers Compensation a plus
