What you'll be doing
As a Claims Representative, you will investigate and settle simple claims. These are first-party single vehicle automobile accidents, which are those involving just one car. This position is entry level, a great way to start a career in the insurance industry, and puts you on track to become a Claims Adjuster.
As a Claims Representative, your job will consist of the following:
Claims Investigation: Take calls to set up new losses; communicate with insureds to obtain the facts of loss. Determine coverages; apply provisions of policy contracts in compliance with DOI regulations, statutory law and company guidelines. Review vehicle damages and determine rental vehicle needs. Provide direction to first party customers; assign claims based on specified criteria.
Claims Processing: Issue payments and send out documents as required by state statute. Document claim files to establish a record of events as the files progress to closure.
Customer Service: Communicate with insureds regarding expected time frames for claim completion. Resolve problems for customers.
Other duties as required: You may perform other incidental or related duties as assigned. This could include assisting and training others, and performing duties of higher rated positions from time to time for developmental purposes.
The ideal candidate will have:
Business Experience:
Strong customer service skills - Required
Insurance experience - Preferred
Excellent verbal/written communication skills and sound judgment
A strong sense of organization to keep you on top of a large volume of calls
Proficient computer skills
Ability to meet state licensing requirements
Educational Requirements
High School degree or equivalent
The training class for this position is scheduled to start 1/6/2025.
The pay range for this position is $21.52 - $26.45+ hourly; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience. The company also offers a full range of medical, financial and other benefits, including eligibility for the company's performance sharing plan and paid time off such as holidays, vacation, sick time and personal holidays.
