Role Summary:
The Development Manager will lead utility-scale solar and battery storage projects in the ERCOT region. This role is responsible for managing projects from site identification through to construction-ready status, with a particular focus on permitting, land acquisition, and interconnection processes. The Development Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, finance, and regulatory affairs to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management: Oversee the development lifecycle for utility-scale solar and battery storage projects in ERCOT, from site acquisition to NTP (Notice to Proceed).
Site Identification & Land Acquisition: Conduct market analysis to identify high-potential sites, negotiate land agreements, and secure rights for project development.
Permitting & Regulatory Compliance: Manage permitting processes, coordinate with regulatory authorities, and ensure compliance with ERCOT and local regulations.
Interconnection: Work closely with transmission and interconnection teams to secure grid access, manage application processes, and liaise with ERCOT for project approvals.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with landowners, local communities, and government agencies to gain project support and navigate regulatory requirements.
Financial Modeling & Budgeting: Support financial modeling for project feasibility, assist in budgeting, and manage project costs throughout the development lifecycle.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with internal teams (engineering, finance, legal) and external consultants to drive project progress and ensure alignment with company goals.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, business, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
5-7+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a focus on ERCOT or similar energy markets.
Proven track record of managing utility-scale solar and/or battery storage projects from early development to NTP.
Strong understanding of ERCOT market dynamics, permitting processes, and interconnection requirements.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
