The Plant Director plans, directs, coordinates, oversees production, maintenance, inventory control, safety, employee appraisals, employee operator training to ensure all policies and procedures to include our SOP's and cGMP's are being adhered to. The Plant Director will ensure all shifts are staffed accordingly to ensure all customer demands are met on time with 100% quality to meet or exceed customer expectations. The Plant Director reports directly to the VP of Manufacturing Operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS • Utilizes information systems for the purpose of inputting data, scheduling, inventory control, purchasing, billing, pricing, payroll and other functions necessary to perform the job of a Plant Director. • Maintains valuable production records such as quality control cleaning logs, QC. Batch packaging sheets, and other important paperwork needed to correctly process a job through our system. • Manages, supports, coordinates, controls and communicates all actions regarding activities in production to ensure the department is functioning effectively and efficiently to increase profitability. • Responsible for the quality of the product being run on the production line as well as ensuring that the product is produced with the highest level of quality to meet or exceed customer expectation. • Conducts meetings with the employees along with conducting training to include:
o Safety Training for all new and existing employees.
o Operator training to include actual machine hands-on-training.
o Batch Records.
o Component and finish goods. • Responsible for the P/L of their areas of responsibility and makes the necessary adjustments to show profitability to our bottom line such as the following:
o Improves efficiencies for the increased productivity through better process controls and labor utilization.
o Trains a solid core of supervisors and leads that will train, motivate, and communicate to the employees to improve the overall morale and efficiencies of the department.
o Utilizes optimal labor to produce product.
o Reduces costly sort, scrap, and rework to bulk and component products.
o Reduces overtime hours. • Effective maintenance programs and systems are in place to all equipment and tooling are functioning properly with the highest degree of efficiency. • Responsible for ensuring that all employee appraisals are written, processed and given to their employees on time with expected goals and objectives that will benefit both the employee and us. • Responsible for scheduling all jobs in the department in an effective and efficient manner that will reduce down time while increasing productivity. • Communicates with customer service on job statues, problems or any other information needed to communicate with the customer on the status on their order. • The Plant Director serves multiple roles and must be able to perform several tasks to meet or exceed customer demands or other commitments or other important company issues.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS • Minimum of 10 years' experience working in a high-volume manufacturing and packaging facility as a Plant Director. • Knowledge of critical computer programs necessary to track, schedule, produce and ship high volumes of quality product. • Possess solid leadership skills necessary to manage, direct and train all employees to be able to run an efficient operation. • Must have first-hand knowledge of processing and packaging vitamin products and have knowledge of FDA rules and regulations as it pertains to cGMP's and SOP's.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor's degree or higher in business and or operations preferably in a packaging company. • Equivalent of 10 years minimum in a high energy operations environment.
