Complete sale of merchandise and plants in point of sale system, Lightspeed, for the Garden Shop; Process cash, credit, checks (includes use of credit card machine) for sales and reconciliation; Work assigned shifts (including weekends) and open and close the Garden Shop as necessary; Provide training sessions for incoming Garden Shop staff and assist with creating staffing schedules; Help maintain online shop and fill orders; Perform inventory check-in and reorder as necessary; receive items and create merchandise displays; Ability to become familiar with stock (plants, various gifts, consignment items, etc.) and being able to talk about their features with customers; Using great customer service skills to provide welcoming environment for all; Have a positive, friendly personality in order to work with Garden Shop staff and customers; General housekeeping for Garden Shop (dusting shelves, sweeping floors, etc.); Ability to execute other Garden Shop operations and policies, as needed.
High school diploma or equivalency.
Customer Service Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Mathematics Knowledge of business arithmetic and the ability to add, subtract, multiple, and divide quickly and correctly. Communication-Oral Ability to convey information orally to individuals or groups to ensure that they understand the message. Ability to listen and respond appropriately to information from others. Sales and Promotions Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems. Program Knowledge/Records Administration Knowledge of and ability to maintain accurate records of merchandise received, inventoried and sold. Knowledge of and ability to maintain, verify, and coordinate cash accounting records from a variety of sources. Managing Work and Performance Ability to assign work and to establish work rules and acceptable levels of quality and quantity of work. Ability to review work, evaluate performance of others, and develop individuals' competencies.
Experience using Point of Sale (POS) software on computer to process sales and/or cashier experience is preferred, if candidate does not possess POS experience, must have the ability to learn software required.
