We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Manager to oversee the end-to-end payroll process for a workforce of approximately 1,500 employees, including full-time, part-time, hourly, and salaried team members. This role requires a strong understanding of payroll systems, tax filing, compliance, and benefits taxation, along with the ability to manage tight deadlines and resolve payroll discrepancies effectively. You will supervise a team of two payroll technicians and ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll in a complex, multi-state environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing:
Oversee bi-weekly payroll for 1500+ employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Prepare payroll from Monday to Wednesday of payroll weeks, ensuring payouts occur on Thursdays.
Issue Resolution:
Address and resolve payroll discrepancies (e.g., incorrect payments).
Collaborate with payroll technicians to identify and fix issues before the next cycle.
Complete and document root cause analysis forms for errors.
Compliance and Taxation:
Ensure payroll tax filings are accurate and completed by Fridays during payroll weeks.
Stay updated on FLSA compliance, multi-state payroll laws (primarily Colorado and New Mexico), and IRS regulations.
Employee Support:
Provide exceptional customer service to employees regarding payroll inquiries or issues.
Assist remote employees across multiple states in resolving payroll-related concerns.
Benefits Knowledge (Preferred):
Familiarity with IRS treatment of benefits such as FSA, HSA taxation, travel, and moving expenses.
Annual Tasks:
Lead the preparation and distribution of W-2s.
Assist with year-end tax filings and compliance reporting.
Collaboration and Systems Integration:
Work with the benefits team to ensure payments are remitted accurately.
Support system updates and integrations.
Requirements: Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or Accounting preferred.
Candidates with 10+ years of payroll supervisory experience overseeing 200+ employees will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience:
Minimum 5+ years of payroll experience in a complex, multi-state environment.
Healthcare or 24/7 operational industry experience preferred (e.g., hospitals, manufacturing).
Proven experience managing and developing a team.
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
Experience with payroll/timekeeping software: Workday (Payroll) and Kronos (Timekeeping).
Familiarity with system integrations and troubleshooting is a plus.
