Position Summary

AirJoule is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sourcing/Supplier Development Engineer to define and lead our sourcing efforts and help establish and maintain the existing supply base. The Supplier Development Engineer will play a critical role that will enable the success of our operations and engineering teams. The role will help us implement supply chain for critical materials, introduce product quality standards and support cost reduction efforts. This is a critical role in the company and enables the growth of our business on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities

New Product Development (NPD) Support:
  • Provide cross functional support primarily to engineering and operation teams leading New Product Development (NPD) efforts.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and provide feedback for simplified supplier solutions.
  • Lead liaison between internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Provide regular updates on all sourcing efforts including custom and OTS purchased items.
  • Communicate with stakeholders in crises situations.
  • Coordinate First Article Inspection (FAI) and Postproduction Approval Process (PPAP) samples and documents from vendors.
  • Request quality documents from vendors such as control plans, PFMEA, process diagrams and others as needed for internal review.

Supplier Relationship Management (SRM):
  • Streamline supplier engagement process with required documents in place.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliable and cost-effective sources of materials.
  • Continuously evaluate supplier performance and implement measures to mitigate risks and optimize value.
  • Establish/maintain supply chain for commodities such as: compressor, condenser, cast & machined items and more.
  • Create RFQ and bid package process for effective and competitive bidding.
  • Help maintain Costed Bill of Materials and track Purchase Price Variance (PPV) against it.

Quality Assurance:
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to establish and maintain rigorous quality standards for incoming materials.
  • Implement quality control processes to ensure that materials meet specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve any quality issues related to materials promptly.
  • Ability to effectively use PDM and related software.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum Experience: 5+ years of experience in design and/or quality engineering with involvement in supplier development & relationship management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Preferred experience with mechanical engineering, bringing direct experience and relationships aligned to our business.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office.
  • Experience with supplier relationship management including supplier quality.
  • Experience performing vendor audits and measuring vendor performance matrices.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, detail-oriented and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
